Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology
Our research focuses on evaluating short and long-term perioperative outcomes in children using data from established birth cohorts, administrative databases, and electronic health records. Current studies include the assessment of neurodevelopmental outcomes in children exposed to anesthesia at an early age.

Xiaoyue Ma graduated from Peking University with a B.Sc. in Geophysics and B.Ec. in Economics and subsequently graduated from the University of Minnesota with an M.Sc in Geophysics and in Biostatistics. She has expertise in advanced statistical techniques and the analysis of large datasets. Xiaoyue is currently the primary data analyst and biostatistician for two labs, run by Drs. Hua and Ing and trains and coordinates analyses with other research assistants and trainees.
Ming Sun graduated from Shandong University with a B.S. in Mathematics and the University of Illinois with an M.S. in Statistics. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Biostatistics at the Mailman School of Public Health. Ming has experience in propensity score matching and survival analysis and her Ph.D. thesis work involves modelling neurodegenerative disease progression using mixed effects models.
