Dr. Pagano Recognized as Friend of the Eye Institute

Three people in hospital garb, one holds certificate

In late November, Dr. Parwane Pagano's colleagues at the Harkness Eye Institute presented her with a certificate of appreciation for “Outstanding Professionalism and Dedication to our Patients, Visitors, and Perioperative Team.”

Dr. Pagano was touched deeply by the unexpected gesture. She emphasized that the group’s success owes to the contributions put forth for many years by the most senior member of the anesthesiology team at the institute, Dr. Laurence Mark, with Dr. Charles Cain, Dr. Richard Raker, Dr. Peter Salgo, Dr. Yejun Zhao, Dr. Jeffrey Baird, the dedicated CRNAs, and anesthesiology residents, as well as the nursing and support teams at the Institute. She says that she is part of a quality care team that “has worked together for a long time. It’s the way we work as a whole that makes our efforts successful.”

The certificate was presented to Dr. Pagano by Diane A. Wilson, RN, BSN, MBA, Patient Care Director of Ophthalmology/Cystoscopy OR Services, and Gallardo Ngojo, RN, Eye OR Team Leader. Ms. Wilson agrees that historically the group is a high-performing team. Even so, she said, with three operating rooms handling up to 30 cases per day, Dr. Pagano consistently “rounds on all the patients, is always proactive, and pitches in on literally everything. She knows every person who works here and has an amazing way of forming relationships, with everyone heard and working together. The entire staff appreciates her as an amazing friend of the Eye Institute.”
