The Inaugural E.M. Papper Lecture in Pediatric Anesthesiology

On Thursday, April 12, 2018, The Department of Anesthesiology hosted the inaugural E.M. Papper Lecture in Pediatric Anesthesiology. Our department was honored to host Dr. Paul R. Hickey, Anesthesiologist-in-Chief at Boston Children’s Hospital and Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School as our guest speaker. Dr. Hickey presented his lecture “Ignorance in Pediatric Anesthesia.”

Dr. Hickey specializes in Cardiac Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is internationally and nationally considered a leading expert in pediatric cardiac anesthesia. Dr. Hickey is a past Editor of the Journal of Anesthesia and Analgesia and the Journal of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia. Dr. Hickey's major contributions and achievements over the past 37 years have been focused on clinical expertise and innovation in pediatric anesthesia and pediatric cardiac anesthesia. Dr. Hickey as made substantial contributions in the in investigation of these areas. Dr. Hickey has focused his practice on pediatric cardiac anesthesia and has conducted a series of investigations on the hemodynamic effects of anesthetic agents of pediatric patients and pediatric cardiac patients.

The E.M. Papper Lecture in Pediatric Anesthesiology is one of a series of endowed lectures hosted by the Department of Anesthesiology. Our department is truly honored to have such highly regarded and accomplished professionals visit our department and share their knowledge with our faculty, residents, and fellows. The next E.M. Papper Lecture is scheduled for November 8, 2018.
