High School Students Tour Margaret Wood Center For Simulation and Education

On Thursday, April 12, 2018, the Margaret Wood Center for Simulation and Education was happy to host Vail Mountain School students from Vail, Colorado. These select few high school seniors with interest in medicine were given the opportunity to tour and experience simulation education for themselves. The students were enthusiastic as they attempted to interpret ultrasound images as well as intubate our simulation mannequins. We hope this experience will peak their interest in pursuing a career in medicine and possibly become one of our future anesthesiologists.

The Margaret Wood Center for Simulation and Education provides a safe and welcoming experiential learning environment for clinicians to refine and hone clinical, teamwork, and communication skills. Our simulation center has been expertly designed to mimic real-world operating rooms and intensive care units to provide immersive clinical experience for our health-care providers. Our trainees participate in a wide array of activities ranging from using phantom models to simulate ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blockade to learning the basics of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) on our mannequin-based simulators.
