Recruitment season officially came to an end last Friday with the Match Day announcements of the newest trainees to the department, Columbia Anesthesiology Class of 2025.

The education team worked incredibly hard to make each interview and information session valuable for everyone participating in the first-ever completely virtual recruitment process, said Dr. Teresa Mulaikal, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and director of the residency program. “Thank you to the residents, fellows, faculty, CRNAs, and administrators for serving as ambassadors for our Residency Program during this unique virtual recruitment season,” she said. “Our current residents and core interview faculty shared their enthusiasm for our learning environment and inspired others to join us.”

The diverse new group of residents comes from a variety of backgrounds and from medical centers across the country. “They embody leadership, service, humility, and intellectual promise,” Dr. Mulaikal said.  “Their core values align with ours, as we continue to build our program and train the next generation of anesthesiologists.”

The education division plans a virtual celebration to honor the new recruits. The Class of 2025 will begin the academic year on July 1.
