Dr. Rebecca Martinez, 2018 Physician of the Year

On Tuesday, October 9, our the Department of Anesthesiology's own Dr. Rebecca Martinez, Housestaff Physician and Resident Physician, stood alongside three of her colleagues to receive the 2018 NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center Physician of the Year Award. This year's award winners included medical professions from various specialties. Dr. Martinez, along with Marisa Cevasco, MD,  Nicole Lamanna, MD, and Mario Garcia, OMS-IV were nominated by the nursing staff of NewYork-Presbyterian in recognition of their outstanding dedication to patient care excellence.

Dr. Martinez said she learned from her parents the importance of having positive relationships with her nursing staff.  "Bringing and sense of positivity and happiness is apart of who I am," she said, "I am lucky to have friends in the nurses and my resident colleagues, and most of all I am grateful to be able to care for patients."  We would like to send our most sincere congratulations to Dr. Martinez and all the award recipients.
