Dr. George Gallos awarded Precision Medicine Pilot Award

Kudos to George Gallos and his multidisciplinary team of investigators, who are recipients of a CUIMC Precision Medicine Pilot Award for “Mechanistic Investigation of the Vaginal Microbiome in Different Manifestations of Spontaneous Preterm Birth.” The one-year award funds research proposals that are focused on precision medicine, a paradigm that tailors medical care based on patients’ genetics, environment, or lifestyle factors.

This study aims to discover how metabolic activity of the vaginal microbiome may contribute to spontaneous preterm birth.  By identifying predictors of risk and therapeutic options, this research ultimately will facilitate discovery in the prevention of preterm birth.

Congratulations, Dr. Gallos!
