Dr. Cynthia Oben joins the Division of General Anesthesia

We offer a warm welcome to Dr. Cynthia Oben, who joined us as new faculty this week. Dr. Oben first came to campus in August 2019 as a fellow in Transplant Anesthesiology. She is known to our staff as an excellent clinician, for her calm demeanor in the OR, and for her great working relationship with residents and with our surgical and nursing colleagues.

Dr. Oben always aspired to medicine as a career; she never imagined doing anything else. Born in Cameroon, Dr. Oben spent the latter part of her teenage years in Lawrence, Kansas before moving to Dallas to attend medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern. She completed residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital here in New York City.

Outside of her practice of anesthesiology, she enjoys spending time with her two kids Thierry-Joel (3) and Gabrielle-Marie (10 months), who are teaching her to cherish every free minute, from watching TV to taking beach vacations. She loves cooking as well as exploring the rich and diverse African culture, particularly through music and dance.

Welcome Dr. Oben. We are happy to have you with us!
