Dr. Charles Emala Receives FAER Mentorship Award

On Monday, October 15th, Dr. Charles Emala, received the 2018 Foundation for Anesthesia and Research (FAER) Mentoring Excellence in Research Award.  The award was created by FAER to recognize exceptional individuals who have dedicated their careers to mentoring and demonstrated a significant positive impact on the careers of mentees.  Dr. Emala received the award during the Celebration of Research at the 2018 ASA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Emala has served as a career mentor for dozens of physician-scientists in academic positions, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Emala encourages a higher level of thinking, and his methods bring out the best in his mentees. He is an amazing and deeply trusted leader and colleague in our department and institution. For over two decades now, his mentorship continues to contribute to the success of many physicians around the world. His dedication to mentoring the next generation of anesthesiologists is genuinely inspiring.
