Dr. Charles Emala Appointed to FAER Board

Congratulations to Dr. Charles Emala on this appointment to the Board of Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER), the charitable arm of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. The appointment will last for two years starting this fall. 

Dr. Emala has a long-standing relationship with the foundation having received his first mentored research training grant from FAER at the beginning of his research career and subsequently mentoring seven other individuals who have received FAER funding.  He has been an elected member of the FAER Academy of Research Mentors and was chosen as their mentor of the year in 2018. 

In response to this latest appointment Dr. Emala explained that “there is no other foundation in our specialty that has done more to advance the academic mission of our specialty and the careers of so many physician scientists than FAER.”

"I hope to contribute to the continual advancement of the programming and success of this foundation which I consider responsible for my academic career and the research career of many of my mentees," he said.

FAER’s mission is dedicated to developing the next generation of physician-scientists in anesthesiology with funding priorities towards research, education, and training.
