2019 Allen I. Hyman Lecture features Dr. Kathryn McGoldrick

Faculty, residents, and alumni once again gathered in the Alumni Auditorium for the 2019 Allen I. Hyman Lecture series. This year, Dr. Kathryn McGoldrick was the featured lecturer speaking on “Airway Management Through the Ages” where she walked the audience through key achievements in the field that have led to Anesthesiology as we know it today.

Dr. McGoldrick received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College and completed residency training in Anesthesiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and subspecialty training in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Dr. McGoldrick has spent her entire career in academic medicine, holding faculty appointments at Harvard and Yale. She was Professor and Chair of Anesthesiology at New York Medical College, where she also served as Residency Program Director and Advisory Dean for Medical Student Affairs.

Dr. McGoldrick has written over 85 book chapters, more than 10 articles, and has authored or edited 17 books. In 2016, Dr. McGoldrick joined the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, where she is working on the Clinical Learning Environment Review Project in the Department of Institutional Accreditation.

The Allen I. Hyman Lecture was established by former Chair Dr. Margaret Wood and aims to highlight prominent figures in the study and practice of anesthesiology.
